Cindy McCain: The champion against world hunger – Politics

From

Thomas Hummel

Cindy McCain says the fight against hunger is no longer just about aid deliveries. But to help people to help themselves, “it has to have a lasting effect”. You have to support the local small farmers so that they can plant enough themselves to feed their populations. The 68-year-old said that at an event at the Munich Security Conference on the subject of the food crisis, and now she is perhaps the most important fighter against hunger in the world. She becomes head of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP).
