64-year-old Christoph Menke is in a good mood as he sits in his study. Behind him is a shelf with Leitz folders, which the professor of philosophy at the University of Frankfurt “finds rather ugly,” as he says. Menke has written a lot about aesthetics, but also about political philosophy. Now everything is a little different: Menke has just published an extensive “Theory of Liberation” that deals with everyday experiences of liberation.
