Christmas with a pandemic – Ebersberg

Has there ever been anything like this? That the Christ Child is bombed a thousand times with one and the same wish? Sure, all-encompassing classics and clear trends have always existed. Lego, Playmobil, Carrera and Barbie – apparently they never go out of style. Then there are exotic species such as the Tamagotchis in the past or Bakugans today. But that the same request is formulated on probably every child’s wish list in the western hemisphere, and an immaterial one at that, that’s pretty unique.

The children clearly show their opinion on Corona.

Corona should finally disappear, stop sneaking out. The children in the Ebersberg district are also hoping for this. From the very little ones who are currently learning to write, to the older ones who – thanks to homeschooling – already design their post to the Christ Child as a Power Point presentation. And sometimes there is even a clear illustration of the request, be it copied from the Internet, painted or tinkered with. For example, a virus with a line across it in bold red. Yes, the youngsters are very, very tired of having to test themselves almost every day, to sit half the day with a mask in school, not to be allowed to go to sports tournaments and to forego big children’s birthdays. Corona is a very bad spoilsport, this message is becoming particularly clear these days.

The only question now is what the Christ Child will do with all the letters of supplication. After all, with the end of a pandemic, even this heavenly being could be overwhelmed. Even if many children believe in, or at least hope for, a Christmas miracle – this pious wish will most likely remain unfulfilled. Unless the many pieces of paper do not end up with Peter at the Heavenly Gate, at the North Pole or in another enchanted place. But on the desks of all those who make the decisions these days. In the ministries, for example. Or in the mailboxes of those who still consider Corona to be a better cold or a big conspiracy. Who do not want to be vaccinated, for whatever reason. Because perhaps a small letter, written in the most beautiful cursive and yet peppered with errors, can soften your heart. That would be a little Christmas miracle.
