When you’ve been trudging through the cold forest all day to distract the kids, you’re really in jail (i.e. you’re hungry) and you can’t wait for the Christmas roast (icy hands, acute hypoglycaemia), then a hot, small, mild-white Riesling soup is just around the corner and life saving right. It is light (no solid deposits) and full-bodied (crème fraîche), appetizingly sweet and sour and pretty to look at thanks to the fresh herb and grape garnish. In addition, puff pastry sticks give something to crunch.
