Christmas card causes disappointment among royal fans

The couple sent official greetings for the festival again this year – with a connection to Germany. However, many royal fans are missing something.

It is now a tradition for the British royals to send a card with a family photo every year before Christmas. Prince William and his wife Kate announced theirs a few days ago. The photo with her three children amazes with some details, as you can see here.

Now Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have also sent their greetings for the festival to the world – as an email, as reported by “People” magazine, among others. “We wish you a wonderful Christmas time. Thank you for all the support in 2023,” says the digital Christmas card on behalf of the Sussexes and their “Archewell” foundation, which also shared the motif on the website.

At least for this public Christmas card, Harry and Meghan did not have a special photo taken. It is likely to be particularly familiar to royal fans in this country, as the picture has a surprising connection to Germany. It shows the couple at the closing ceremony of this year’s Invictus Games in Düsseldorf.

Photo without Archie and Lilibet

But something else stands out – and causes disappointment for many of the two’s fans: Harry and Meghan appear alone, without their two children Archie and Lilibet. Two years ago, the Sussexes used their Christmas card to show the first public photo of their daughter, who was born in June 2021. The two years before, her now four-year-old son was also part of the motif. Last December, however, the couple left the children away – as they do now.

This caused regret on social networks. “I would have loved to see Archie and Lili again”, “Sad, a Christmas card without any family” or “I’m very disappointed with the motif” are just a few of the many comments that can be read on X (formerly Twitter) and Co are.
