In interviews with the magazine Cicero and the Swiss daily newspaper NZZ Hamburg physicist Roland Wiesendanger spread his speculations last week: The Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus came from a laboratory in the Chinese city of Wuhan. He accuses the Charité virologist Christian Drosten of deliberate deception and cover-up. As a member of a panel of experts suggested by US Presidential Advisor Anthony Fauci, which met via a switching conference in early February 2020, Drosten is said to have helped to disguise the alleged laboratory origin. There is no evidence for the claim. Most experts consider an origin of the virus from the animal kingdom to be much more plausible.
