Another trouble for Chrissy Teigen: She and her husband John Legend threw a luxury party on the weekend under the motto “Squid Game”. They didn’t seem to notice that the Netflix hit criticized the gap between rich and poor – but many fans did.
Model Chrissy Teigen and her husband, singer John Legend, threw a luxurious party at the weekend and thus drew the anger of the fans. The reason is the motto of the celebration, because Teigen and Legend have transformed their villa in Los Angeles with the help of a party planning company into a backdrop for the Netflix hit “Squid Game”. The guests present had to compete against each other in the same way as the games in the series, the winner was given a flight to Napa plus dinner from the couple.
“What a legendary evening!” Enthused Teigen on Instagram and showed photos from the event. “My dream of watching my friends die in the agony has come true!” The model continues. But the party was not so well received on the Internet. Many criticized the photos as “extremely tasteless” and cynical. “I would like to be as ignorant as Chrissy Teigen, who throws a ‘Squid Game’ party with her rich friends from LA”, wrote a Twitter user, for example.

The South Korean Netflix series is about the unjust distribution of wealth. To the amusement of the powerful, well-to-do, highly indebted and desperate people compete against each other in children’s games and fight each other to death. The last winner receives prize money. The series is considered the most successful Netflix production of all time and is best known for its brutality. “Squid Game” has also been widely praised by critics for its socially critical premise that condemns capitalism. The fact that Teigen seems to have completely missed this aspect is a source of amusement on the internet.
“Nothing says ‘I didn’t understand Squid Game’ like Chrissy Teigen, who gives a Squid Game Party,” commented a Twitter user. “At first I thought it was a sweet charity campaign, but the huge check actually just says ‘Flight to Napa'”, a user on Instagram marveled.
It’s not the first shit storm for doughs. The presenter and cookbook author had only apologized a few months ago for bullying people online after old tweets and messages surfaced from her in which she advised a minor to commit suicide, among other things. When it comes to money, too, the 35-year-old is repeatedly accused of having lost touch with reality. For example, when she tweeted an anecdote in which she and her husband “accidentally” bought a bottle of champagne for $ 13,000.
