When it became known that Chris Dercon was to give the speech at the 120th anniversary of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts, there was a lot of trouble: Franz Xaver Kroetz, one of the most successful German playwrights of social dramas (also famous on television as Baby Schimmerlos from “Kir Royal”), wrote a letter in armor – addressed with his characteristic fury to all other members of the Free State’s most important scholarly club.
