Chris de Burgh: Interview about his musical “Robin Hood” – Munich

The Irish pop star and medieval expert Chris de Burgh composed and wrote for the musical “The Legend of Robin Hood”. He sees himself on the side of the outlaws, even though his family was once one of the most powerful nobles in England.

Chris de Burgh speaks gently and lively – the best storyteller. But several times in the interview he belts out singing. “I’m lucky, my voice is still in wonderful shape,” says the Irish pop star, who celebrates his 75th birthday on October 15th. But unlike his current concerts in Beirut, Istanbul and Cyprus and his tour next year, this isn’t about his singing at all. Chris de Burgh composed eight pieces for the musical “The Legend of Robin Hood” (along with 16 others, he put together his own “Robin Hood” album) and co-wrote the story – and it has a surprising amount to do with it his own ancestors.
