China: what opening up to tourists means – Economy

From

Lea Hampel and Florian Müller, Munich/Beijing

Holger Baldus has been traveling to China for more than 30 years – both privately and professionally as managing director of the tour operator Marco Polo and as a China expert for the higher-level Studiosus group of companies. But because of the Corona travel restrictions, he has not been there for a long time. He is still convinced that China is “traditionally an important and exciting travel destination for people interested in culture”. Baldus was all the happier this week, the news came every hour. China is allowing tourists again, Lufthansa is increasing its range of flights, in short: we can start again.
