When Saša Stanišić, author of fiction novels such as “Origin”, “Before the Festival” and “How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone”, who has received numerous awards, writes a children’s novel, expectations are high. How does he do that? Does he do something different? Escape or refuge in stories and memories is a recurring motif in his poetic, pointedly comic storytelling for adults. In 2021 he made his debut with his children’s book “Hey, hey, hey, Taxi!” a celebration of the beginnings of the story: Taxi rides are the start of crazy adventures, children can use them as a springboard to continue telling the story themselves. The call for a taxi as a lure into the realm of fantasy.
