Children: This week NASA had an experiment that was very successful.
NDR Info children’s news: Such scenes are otherwise only known from Hollywood films: A meteoroid races towards the earth and can be shot down at the last second. But for precisely this emergency, NASA – that is the US Federal Agency for Space Travel – has started a first test. The researchers shot a probe at a small, distant asteroid and hope that it will now change its trajectory. Further investigations should show whether this worked.
Children: If there were really an emergency, then that could also be a danger for us and that’s why they test it.
NDR Info children’s news: Luckily there is no reason to worry as far as we know. A celestial body that could become really dangerous for mankind only comes by the earth about every 100,000 years.
