Children approached by motorists? After several reports, an investigation opened

Concern has spread to the small towns of Mannevillette and Epouville, in the suburbs of Le Havre. Between October 17 and December 1, four reports were made to the Seine-Maritime gendarmes for “behavior perceived as suspicious by children”. If no complaint was filed, the Le Havre public prosecutor opened an investigation and launched a call for witnesses. Surveillance has also been reinforced around schools or bus stops.

According to the children’s testimonies, they were approached by motorists while they were on the street, sometimes near their school. In a press release published Monday, the prosecution specifies, however, that “the identification elements provided by the young complainants differ”. “The testimonies do not make it possible to characterize criminal offenses,” insists a source within the gendarmerie. We’re not talking about failed kidnapping attempts. »

Investigations, entrusted to the Le Havre gendarmerie brigade, are continuing. “Anyone who can provide further information” is invited to come forward.
