It’s already hard to bear. While many companies are not affected by the energy crisis and price increases and some are even posting billions in profits, while the labor market is booming and there are around two million vacancies in the country, many families remain in poor conditions. According to a study by the Bertelsmann Foundation, more than every fifth child in Germany is at risk of poverty. That’s almost three million girls and boys. Inequality among children is and remains a pain point in the social market economy.
