After twelve years it’s over: on Sunday the last “Polizeiruf 110” from Rostock with Charly Hübner as Inspector Bukow. Whether he will leave the series alive is open until the end.

For twelve years they were an inseparable investigative duo – and in the end they were also a couple in private: The two “police call” commissioners Alexander Bukow (Charly Hübner) and Katrin König (Anneke Kim Sarnau) had a professional relationship for a long time.

But in the episode “None of us” broadcast this Sunday, it can no longer be overlooked: Love hit these two people hard. “I’ve been married before and raised two sons,” buzzes Bukow at one point in the direction of his colleague. “But this with you is the greatest and most beautiful thing I can imagine for the rest of my life.”

The only question is: how long is that, the rest of his life? In order to avoid possible spoilers, the ARD shortened the episode made available to journalists in advance by the final 15 minutes. So you have to be ready for anything.

In any case, it is certain that it will be Huebner’s last assignment as an investigator in the crime series. The actor announced this a long time ago. “That was a great twelve years and we were allowed to dare a lot and we managed to do a lot,” the 49-year-old is quoted in a statement.

In the final episode, all kinds of ghosts of the past appear: Bukow’s intimate enemy Zoran Subocek (Aleksandar Jovanovic) tries to gain a foothold in Rostock. The Serb has given him problems in previous cases: Now he is blackmailing him with spicy information that could lead to a conviction of his colleague and lover Katrin König.

The gloomy case is loosened up by the doctor founder Bela B. Felsenheimer, who plays a deranged musician who is initially suspected of murder. But the actual murder case fades into the background, in the further course it is only about the fate of Bukow and König.

The latter will continue after Huebner’s exit. The NDR has already found a successor for the bearded actor at the side of Anneke Kim Sarnau – and has proven her sense of humor: Lina Beckmann becomes a new colleague. In real life she is Charly Hübner’s partner.
