From the highest-paid US TV star to a fired junkie: Charlie Sheen has had an unprecedented fall. How is he today?

Has US star Charlie Sheen (58) actually learned something new? In the “Daily Mail”, a former director of the hit series “Two and a Half Men” describes the superstar’s decline in dramatic words. Today, Sheen aka Charlie Harper seems reformed – and is filming with his old nemesis again.

Sheen earned $1.25 million per episode

Charlie Sheen’s fall is only inadequately described with the word “fall height”. Between 2003 and 2011, the actor portrayed Charlie Harper in the CBS series “Two and a Half Men” so credibly that he became the highest-paid US TV star. He is said to have recently earned $1.25 million – per episode! Countless drug escapades and insults towards producer Chuck Lorre (70) later followed Sheen’s expulsion in March 2011 in the middle of filming the eighth season.

“His problems have overwhelmed us”

In the British daily newspaper, Jamie Widdoes (69), former director of the sitcom, traces Sheen’s incomparable path from the series hero, who gradually dismantles himself. “We all tried as best we could to leave the experiences with Charlie on set there and not take them home with us. But that became more and more difficult,” says Widdoes. “His off-set problems didn’t just hit us on set day after day, they flooded us,” Widdoes continued.

By taking drugs, Sheen also wanted to expand the horizons of his character Charlie Harper. Sheen’s recipe against, from his point of view, increasingly boring scripts. In reality, he appeared on set less and less often before he was fired.

New series shoot with the former arch enemy

Four years after his expulsion, Sheen revealed his HIV infection on US television. The dispute with “Two and a Half Men” producer Chuck Lorre continued for years – until the reconciliation at the beginning of the year.

Surprisingly, both announced that they wanted to work together in a new comedy series called “How to be a Bookie”. The series revolves around an aging bookmaker who can’t find his way in the modern world of sports betting. Lead role: Charlie Sheen.

“I want to be seen as a decent and compassionate person”

And how is Charlie Sheen today? According to his former personal make-up artist Gabriel Solana (53), Sheen is not only clean. “He doesn’t smoke a single cigarette anymore. I would never have thought that possible,” says Solana.

Sheen actually works in recent Facebook posts cleaned up and purified when, for example, he is asked how to have a really good party. “I think a party is good when you celebrate for the right reason and with the right people,” says Sheen calmly. He is asked what he wants to share about himself. “I’m not at all concerned with my judgment as an actor. I would like to be seen as a decent and compassionate person.”

He only answers the question of who should give his eulogy in Charlie Parker style: “Only I could do that. I would record the speech and play it back during the funeral.”
