“Chantal in Fairytale Land” is being shown in numerous previews before its theatrical release – Munich

Even in the cinema there are sentences that last forever. “I’ll be back” or “May the force be with you” for example. Or, to stay in Germany: “Chantal, cry quietly.” Ten years ago, the school comedy “Fack ju Göhte” became the box office hit of the year, its secret star was Jella Haase as Chantal, a school truant with a weakness for make-up and social media ambitions. After three “Göhte” films, author and director Bora Dagtekin is now putting her at the center of his new cinema adventure “Chantal in Fairytale Land”.

Through a magic mirror she ends up in a fairytale world – including dragons, fairies and princes with identity problems. The film opens in cinemas on Easter weekend. If you don’t want to wait that long, you can see him at numerous previews in Munich and the surrounding area. Then there is a (brief) reunion with Elyas M’Barek, who once taught her unsuccessfully: “Is he still alive,” asks Chantal, “I thought all our teachers were already dead.” A sentence for eternity, one way or another.

Chantal in Fairytale Land, D 2024, director: Bora Dagtekin, previews on Wed., March 27th, at Arri, Leopold, Mathäser, Gloria or Royal
