Chancellor is impressed by the DFKI
Among other things, the Federal Chancellor informed himself about artificial intelligence as a supporter of humans and the importance of the “Smart Factory KL”. After the tour of the DFKI, Scholz was impressed: “I am very proud that we have such a facility in our country!” The Chancellor emphasized that the artificial intelligence at the Kaiserslautern research center is important in order to make oneself independent of others in the future. The second station of the Chancellor’s visit to Kaiserslautern was more emotional. The police headquarters in West Palatinate was the place of work for the police trainee and the police commissioner were shot dead during a vehicle check near Kusel at the end of January.
Chancellor Scholz signed the condolence book of the families of the murdered police officers.

Afterwards, Scholz was deeply moved. Scholz said he talked to many police officers. The act still upsets him.
Scholz appreciates the work of the police
The chancellor also exchanged views with the civil servants about their day-to-day work. Scholz, together with Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Dreyer and Interior Minister Lewentz, paid tribute to the commitment and work of the police officers – especially in times of a pandemic.
Chancellor Scholz’s visit to Kaiserslautern ended after about two hours.
