Tuchel’s wish and Bayern’s dream: Wembley final against BVB

Bayern and Dortmund are in the semi-finals of the Champions League – and could meet again at Wembley after eleven years. Max Eberl is already talking about an exclamation mark for the Bundesliga.
After the first semi-final in the Since last winning the Champions League title in 2020, FC Bayern has immediately announced the final at Wembley as their next goal.
And the German soccer record champions’ dream final on June 1st in London would of course be a German one against Borussia Dortmund – like when they won the title in 2013 at the same location.
Kimmich: “I would like it, I would take it”
“It starts in two weeks. There is a huge incentive. We will do everything we can to end the season at Wembley,” announced Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel after the 1-0 win in the quarter-final second leg against Arsenal. “If I liked it, I would take it,” said goalscorer Joshua Kimmich about a possible new Wembley final duel with Dortmund. On April 30th there will be a semi-final in Munich and on May 8th in Spain’s capital against record winners Real Madrid
Bayern’s sports director Max Eberl spoke “drunk with joy” of a great moment for German football and the Bundesliga, which is often overshadowed by the English Premier League. “There is no Englishman in the semi-finals, there are two Bundesliga teams in it. That is great for the Bundesliga, an exclamation mark that we have set. Now we both want even more,” said Eberl, also with a view to BVB.
A new match against Dortmund at Wembley, where Bayern triumphed 2-1 in 2013 thanks to a late goal from Arjen Robben, would be sensational, “if you start dreaming,” said Bayern boss Jan-Christian Dreesen. BVB will face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals on May 1st and 7th. “Today we are celebrating that we have made it to the Champions League semi-finals and there is still a lot possible,” said Eberl.
