The Catalans beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1 (2-0) and thus secured their third win in the third group game. Ferran Torres (28th minute) and Fermín López (36th) scored the goals for Barça, which hosts Real Madrid in the Clásico on Saturday. Georgiy Sudakov (62nd) scored the next goal for the Ukrainians, who gave Barcelona their first goal of this premier class season. National team captain Ilkay Gündogan played through at Barça.

Feyenoord Rotterdam also achieved an important success in the race for the round of 16. The Dutch soccer champions defeated Lazio Rome 3-1 (2-0). Santiago Giménez (31st/74th) and Ramiz Zerrouki (45th + 2) scored for the hosts. Pedro (83’/foul penalty) scored the goal for Lazio. In the Group E table, Feyenoord moved past the Italians with the win.
