Cham: Faked robbery on money transporter – Bavaria

After an allegedly faked raid on a money transporter in the Upper Palatinate, investigators apparently found most of the stolen money. The police said on Tuesday that the more than 800,000 euros were kept outside the access of the three suspects in the case. The investigators assume that a little more than one million euros were stolen in Cham in mid-April. Some of the money had been discovered on the suspects themselves.

The employee of a security company, his partner and her daughter are suspected of having staged a robbery of the money transporter on April 17 and having stolen the money while the man’s colleagues were collecting money from a supermarket. The 55-year-old is said to have handed over the loot from the van to his daughter, who was then picked up by her mother.

The man initially said to the police and his colleagues that two strangers had threatened him and forced him to hand over the money. During the investigation, however, the 55-year-old got caught up in contradictions. Finally, according to the police, he admitted to having faked the robbery.

Since the 55-year-old had carried a firearm at work, the three have to answer on suspicion of theft with weapons as complicity. The trio is in custody.
