CES 2024: New Samsung OLEDs reduce reflections, increase brightness

In addition to its LCD flagships in the Neo QLED series with mini-LED backlighting, Samsung also offers OLED televisions. In addition to variants with QD-OLED panels from Samsung Display, these now also include WOLED models with panels from LG Display. The Samsung OLED of 2024 now includes the S85D, S90D and S95D series presented at CES 2024. They cover diagonals from 42 to 83 inches.

The new smart TVs are advertised with “OLED Glare Free” technology. Essentially, reflections and reflections are minimized here. In addition, the new Samsung OLED 2024 are of course also equipped with an updated version of the Tizen platform. Unfortunately, Samsung is still hiding many details about the new televisions, but it has confirmedthat the top model of the S95D series with 77 inches has increased the brightness by 20 percent compared to its immediate predecessor, the S95C.

The new Samsung OLED S85D, which will be available with a diagonal of 55 to 83 inches, will be the entry-level series in 2024. As the middle model series, the S90D succeeds the S90C. This series will also offer an oversized 83-inch variant for the first time and will also be available in 42 and 48 inches, although Samsung writes in its press release that the availability of individual sizes may vary depending on the country. Samsung OLED: Even in 2024 without Dolby Vision

Samsung’s reservations about Dolby Vision remain the same. This year, the company’s new OLED TVs only offer HDR10 and HDR10+. An added value for PC gamers is that the new TV generation once again allows a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz at 4K resolution. There will be something new with Samsung’s FAST service, i.e. Samsung TV Plus. The manufacturer has given the service a new surface. They also want to expand the networking options with smartphones from the Samsung Galaxy series.

The function of automatically generated AI subtitles is also new. Also for greater inclusion, there will be the new barrier-free remote, which is specifically intended for users with visual, hearing or other physical impairments.

We will of course stay tuned to find out more details for you. There is still no information about the availability and prices of the new Samsung televisions.
