At the end of 2022, Céline Dion (55) announced in a moving video that she was suffering from a rare autoimmune disease and had to cancel her world tour as a result. Since then she has been fighting to return to the stage. Now the dramatic health update: Céline’s sister reports that the singer is doing even worse than expected.
Dion suffers from the so-called Stiff Person Syndrome. It is considered incurable and causes severe and persistent muscle spasms in the back and legs, stiffening the muscles.
Céline has lost control of her muscles, said her sister Claudette Dion (75) on the Canadian TV channel “7 Jours”.
It breaks her heart because her sister was always disciplined and hard-working. Already in one Claudette Dion said in an earlier interview: “We can’t find anything that will help her.”
The neurological disorder has not yet been researched much because it is so rare. Medical progress is slow – which Claudette cannot understand. Affected people have “lost hope” that a cure will ever be found.
Despite the terrible diagnosis, Claudette doesn’t give up hope. And even talks about working towards ensuring that Sister Céline can one day take the stage again…
