Cédric Rosalen, former points record holder in a Top 14 match, died at 43

He shone for a long time under the colors of Narbonne. Cédric Rosalen, who for a long period was the record holder for points scored in a Top 14 match, died at the age of 43, his former clubs Perpignan and Montauban announced on Tuesday.

Born and trained in Narbonne, he spent most of his career there, notably reaching the final of the European Challenge in 2001. The Aude fly-half also finished best director in the Top 14 during the 2005-2006 season and registered with him only 32 points in a match against Montauban in 2006 (37-33 victory).

A fifteen year long record

A record which will have held for almost fifteen years before being beaten in 2021 by Castres’ Argentinian flyhalf Benjamin Urdapilleta (33 points) against Montpellier. “His view on his feet was unrivaled and he leaves a big void in the world of French rugby,” the National Rugby League reacted on social networks.

After also wearing the colors of USAP (2007-2008), Montauban (2008-2010) and Carcassonne (2010-2011), Rosalen coached at amateur level the clubs of Gruissan and Corbières XV.
