Cathy Hummels deletes nude photo after massive criticism – and speaks out

It is well known that the presenter likes to be revealing. But an advertising campaign brought Cathy Hummels a lot of criticism. Now she’s speaking out about it.

Since the end of her marriage to Mats Hummels, Cathy Hummels has been more open-hearted than ever before. The presenter not only took off her clothes for “Playboy”, she also regularly shares revealing photos on her Instagram account. The 36-year-old is aware that she is polarizing.

After the mother of a son was massively attacked because of her topless advertisement for the book “Sugar-Free Cookbook for Children”, she said a day later: “With my photo yesterday I deliberately wanted to provoke in order to attract attention to this important topic .” She “chose it that way consciously,” she explains in her Instagram story. Nevertheless, she subsequently deleted the picture in which she held the children’s cookbook in front of her bare upper body. Instead, she uploaded a photo of herself promoting the book in the same pose, but with a top.

Her followers had previously clearly criticized the nude posting. In the comments section they vented their anger, appeared irritated and horrified. “Sexualized advertising for a children’s book – that clearly goes too far,” wrote one user. Another agreed: “I’m shocked at this book launch. This is so inappropriate.”

Even loyal fans showed no understanding

Statements like “You’re apparently willing to cross any boundaries just to stay in the conversation”, “Hardly tasteless” or “A children’s (cooking) book that also has a child on the cover, SO true “Presenting just doesn’t work” could also be read. A massive wave of accusations even for Cathy Hummels, who is now used to criticism for her freedom of movement.

Because even the presenter’s loyal fans showed no understanding this time. “I like you but this is totally inappropriate,” one comment read. A follower noted: “So far I haven’t found any of your pictures inappropriate, even though many of them always had something to complain about. But here I have to say for the first time that I can’t find anything positive anymore either.”

Even a professional agency subsequently spoke up. “We specialize in advertising books with celebrities and influencers, but we would have strongly advised against this implementation of advertising,” wrote the “Mainwunder Media House”. Now Cathy Hummels has reacted to the headwind, deleted her picture and explained that she accepted the excitement from the start in order to spread her message “Sugar makes you sick” – even if that later seems rather unfortunate to some observers.
