“Cat Person” in the cinema: The failed date – culture

Rarely has a film started with as much baggage as Susanna Fogel’s “Cat Person.” Not as many potential viewers have actually read even a bestseller as the short story by Kristen Roupenian that made her a well-known writer overnight (and who also writes for the SZ). new Yorker put them online. Roupenian had hit a nerve at the beginning of the “Me Too” debate – the Weinstein scandal was only a few weeks ago. The little story about a student who chats with a man who is significantly older than her and sends him into the desert after a completely unsuccessful date, only to be called a whore by him, was a viral superhit.
