That has never happened before: For the first time in the history of “Voice of Germany”, rock legend Peter Maffay takes a seat on one of the coach chairs. He reveals what fascinates him most about the format.
Rock singer Peter Maffay (72, “So bist du”) becomes a coach for “The Voice of Germany” for the first time.
This was announced by the broadcasting group ProSiebenSat.1 on Thursday. «I’ve always admired how many great talents choose “The Voice of Germany” as a springboard into a career as musicians. I think it’s great to be able to help with this, together with my colleagues, »explained Maffay according to the announcement.
In addition to the old rocker, Rea Garvey (49, “Supergirl”) and Stefanie Kloß (37) from the band Silbermond (“The Best”) are returning to the red chairs of the casting show. Veteran Mark Forster (38, “We are big”) completes the prominent coaches. Most recently, Nico Santos, Sarah Connor and Johannes Oerding announced that they were leaving “The Voice”.
The twelfth season is scheduled to air on Thursdays and Fridays starting in August. Filming will start next week in Berlin. The show is moderated by Thore Schölermann and Melissa Khalaj, who replaces Lena Gercke.
