Carolin Kebekus is back with her show – and sings “Alles gut” at the start of the new season. But does she really mean it?

“Summer will be good”: Carolin Kebekus reported back from the break last May with this optimistic song. At the time, there was reason for optimism: the vaccination campaign was under way and gave many hope that the pandemic would end soon.

Almost a year has passed since then. Corona is still there, the incidence is many times higher than it was then, and there has been war in Ukraine for more than two months. And yet Kebekus sings at the start of her new season: “Everything’s fine!”. As a viewer you might ask yourself: is it still possible?

But if you pay attention to the lyrics, it quickly becomes clear that the comedienne is still in her right mind and associates the song with a different intention than to whitewash reality: it’s about the inability of many people to admit that something is going badly and you doesn’t feel good. Thank you very much – that’s just a phrase that you often say when you’re asked about your own well-being.

Carolin Kebekus screams her anger

“I tell myself everything is fine, but I don’t give a fuck”sings Kebekus at the beginning, while she has dressed herself up like a cracker and beams penetratingly into the camera. “Could it be that we’re just masking ourselves? / Do we still have something to lose? / Nobody says how much it hurts / But I don’t have the courage / I just always say: Everything’s fine.”

But then she puts an end to the charade and says how it really is: “It’s not good at all. No, no, I was already in a panic mood today.” Even if that’s not a nice stocktaking – at the end of the song the singer seems more liberated. The tortured smile is gone. Carolin Kebekus screamed out all her anger.

After that, the world is still the same. But to be honest, letting it all out is sometimes really good.

The “Carolin Kebekus Show” runs at 10:50 p.m. on the first. The episode is already available from 8:15 p.m in the ARD media library.
