Carlos Marin died at the age of 53. This was announced by his band Il Divo on the official website.

Carlos Marin died at the age of 53. “It is with a heavy heart that we announce that our friend and partner Carlos Marin has passed away,” writes his band Il Divo on your website and on twitter. The musician will be missed by his friends, family and fans. “There will never be another voice or another spirit like Carlos. The four of us have been together on this incredible journey from Il Divo for 17 years and we will miss our dear friend. We hope and pray that his beautiful soul rests in peace” , it says in conclusion in the joint statement by David Miller (48), Sébastien Izambard (48) and Urs Bühler (50) from Sunday (December 19).

An exact cause of death was not named in the statement. On December 16, the group had on twitter prayed for her member’s speedy recovery after hospitalization. The band had postponed their Christmas tour to next year. Marin is said to have been on stage at the beginning of December.

Record producer and Il Divo creator Simon Cowell (62) wrote on twitter: “I’m devastated that Carlos Marin died. He loved life. He loved performing and always had so much appreciation for the fans who supported the group from day one. Rest in peace Carlos. I will to miss you.” Choreographer Bruno Tonioli (66), who has already worked with Il Divo, tweeted: “Great voice, great man, a true passionate spirit with the best sense of humor. We will miss you very much.”

Carlos Marin was born in Rüsselsheim in 1968 and grew up in Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. The Spanish baritone singer moved with his family to Spain at the age of twelve and pursued his music career there. Among other things, he has appeared on stage for musicals such as “Grease” and operas such as “La traviata”. From the end of 2003 he appeared with Il Divo as an international quartet that combines classical music with pop.
