Car theft: How criminals outsmart the “keyless” system – Bavaria

The car was just in the driveway, then suddenly it’s gone. Expensive cars keep disappearing in Bavaria because of a security gap in the locking system. Why the police recommend aluminum foil.

It has happened again. A few days ago, an expensive Audi disappeared from a property in the Regensburg district. The owner had parked the car in a carport next to his house – a safe place, actually. But the next morning the car was gone. Stolen. According to the police report, the perpetrators opened the car without violence and just drove away. Without a key, they didn’t need it. The car was finally equipped with a so-called “Keyless Go” system. The modern locking system is convenient, it ensures that the car opens as soon as the driver approaches with the key in his pocket. Even the engine starts without having to dig out the key. A push of a button is enough. Too bad that criminals also appreciate this convenience. You don’t even have to get your hands dirty anymore.
