In August, season 2 of “Drag Race France” ended with Keiona’s victory and under a deluge of superlatives. The tricolor version of the drag queen competition has expanded its audience in France and made a strong impression internationally. Fenton Bailey, the executive producer of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” who, within his company World of Wonder, ensures compliance with the show’s specifications, even judged the French adaptation to be “spectacular” in our columns. The bar is therefore set very high for season 3 which will arrive very soon on the France Télévisions channels and the outlines of which were revealed this Wednesday during a press conference at Paradis Latin, in Paris.
Who are the candidates?
They are ten to a crown. Among them, Leona Winter, whom the faithful of “The Voice” were able to see and hear in the eighth season, in 2019, or Perseo, who officiates in the Canary Islands. But also Afrodite Amour, Norma Bell, who expressed their pride in representing the islands and, respectively, Guadeloupe and Reunion, Mysty Phoenix, Magnetica, Lula Strega, Le Filip – first Croatian queen of all franchises –, Ruby On The Nail and Edeha Black.
When will the episodes be broadcast?
The launch date has not yet been made official, but we know that the episodes of “Drag Race France” season 3 will be posted online on Fridays at 7 p.m. on the France.tv Slash platform and broadcast on the same day , in the second part of the evening on France 2. As the content of the France Télévision site is blocked outside France, to view the episodes from abroad, you must connect to the WOW Presents Plus platform, subject to a subscription.
What will be new?
If the cult “maxide challenges” such as the “Snatch Game”, the “make-over” or the ball (which we are told is particularly surprising) will be there this season, fans will undoubtedly be delighted to see the return of “The Weak Heel”, a parody of “Weak Link” with Lova Ladiva which caused a sensation last year, as well as “Musidrag”, a musical comedy between drags. The first episode will not see the queens compete in a talent competition as usual but they will have to perform in a “cabaret” show for which they wrote the lyrics. An accessory appears: the “Nicky Phone”, a glittery pink phone “which can ring at any time to challenge” the candidates.
Which represent ?
No changes for the third season. Nicky Doll keeps the reins of the presentation, surrounded by the two permanent judges, Daphné Bürki and Kiddy Smile. As usual, the trio will be joined each week by personalities to evaluate the parades, the maxi challenges and the candidates’ parades.
Will the finale be filmed in public?
Season 3 will end before the start of the Olympic Games. The final will, like last year, be recorded in public at the Grand Rex in Paris. The production promises that more places will be made available this year – registration details will be communicated later. During this final, as was the case last year, several coronations will be filmed in order to maintain suspense until the broadcast and to avoid leaks. The winner will therefore only be known once this final episode has been posted online.
