The temperatures are falling, the trees are shedding their leaves and many people want to get out into nature. Camping is also becoming increasingly popular in autumn and winter. We reveal where it is particularly worthwhile.

Waking up in the middle of the mountains and enjoying your first coffee wrapped up in a woolen blanket with a view of the crystal-clear mountain lake – that is the epitome of freedom for many people. Camping can be a guarantee of adventure and closeness to nature, even in the cold half of the year. The most important thing is the right preparation and healthy expectations. Because: In autumn and winter there is no guarantee of good weather, even in southern Europe. Snow, rain and wind are part of the overall package of the camping holiday.

Camping in autumn: It’s particularly worthwhile here

And yet there are regions in Europe that are particularly suitable for a camping trip in autumn and winter. If you enjoy a walk in the colorful forest, want to jump into the leaves and end the evening with a cup of tea in front of the campfire, you are in good hands at many German campsites in autumn, according to the Berlin camping portal “camping.info”.

The experts particularly recommend the following regions:

North Sea and Baltic Sea: Many campsites offer an extensive leisure program and wellness offers, which promise a wonderful holiday, especially for families.

Weserbergland-Harz mountain region: The diverse hiking trails attract many nature fans all year round. In autumn you can explore the colorful deciduous forests with a little less hustle and bustle.

Eifel mountain region: No matter whether historic villages or picturesque forests – there are many places to discover in the Eifel. And if you want to relax, you can do so in one of the numerous health resorts in the region – with a camper, of course.

Lake Constance: If you jump into the lake in summer, you can explore the many hiking trails on the shore in autumn, go on a bike ride or enjoy the Lake Constance thermal baths.

South-Tirol: If you don’t like it too cold in autumn, you can take a camper to South Tyrol. Even in November it is often almost 20 degrees Celsius. Good conditions for extensive hiking tours or a leisurely day at the campsite.

Winter camping: Beautiful destinations in Austria, Germany and Switzerland

Anyone planning a camping trip to the winter wonderland is in good hands wherever the snow falls reliably and the campsites are prepared for winter weather. The camping booking portal has therefore revealed to us the five most popular places for winter camping:
