Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga admitted on Tuesday to having “teased” Kylian Mbappé about a possible transfer to Real Madrid at a time when the captain of the France team is engaged in a showdown with PSG over the extension of his contract which expires in 2024.
Kylian Mbappé has let PSG leaders know that he does not want to go beyond his contract in 2024. Would you be ready to welcome him to Real Madrid this summer?
On this subject I have nothing to say but if he were brought to come, I would be very happy. Between players, we are very teasing and the subject of the transfer window sometimes comes up at the table or at another time of the day. We can laugh about it. I was the first to tease him. How did I do it? it stays between me and him. He is a great player and everyone would like to have him in their team. In attitude, Kylian remained the same today. He didn’t have a different attitude than normal.
With Ferland Mendy’s package, you may again be called upon to play at left-back. Does this bother you?
It’s not a question of embarrassment because I played in this position for almost the entire second part of the season. I started to take some cues from this post. I’m not shy, I’m here to help the group and even if I had been shy, I would have played in this position anyway. You have to know how to be versatile. I now have a different perception of football. We understand better the galleys of the side. When I am a midfielder, I will avoid putting certain balls on him.
How do you perceive your season and do you feel you have changed status?
I think I had a good second half of the season, but the first was not good. Playing left-back allowed me to gain more experience and play more games. The most important thing is to play, even if it’s not at my position. But the eyes vis-à-vis me have not changed, no matter what status I have in the club
