BW decides further restrictions – SWR Aktuell

Baden-Württemberg is tightening its measures to contain the corona virus. In many areas, the 2G rule will apply from Saturday, in some facilities even 2G Plus.

Baden-Württemberg is taking further steps to slow down the infection rate in the corona pandemic. Some of the new rules go further than those agreed at the federal-state conference on Thursday. In the future, vaccinated and convalescent people will also have to show a negative corona test when they go to a restaurant. According to SWR information from government circles, the 2G Plus rule is being implemented for the catering trade.

It was announced on Thursday that the state government is planning to tighten the coronavirus in addition to the resolutions of the federal and state governments.

Large events such as soccer games with almost no audience

In addition, major events are prohibited in view of the worsening corona crisis. In the future, events of any kind should only be allowed to allow a maximum of 50 percent of possible visitors. Regardless of this, a “hard upper limit” of 750 people will apply in the future. This then affects football games or cultural events, for example. The rules are to come into force on Saturday and thus directly affect VfB Stuttgart’s game against Hertha BSC on Sunday.

Theaters in Baden-Württemberg are relaxed

The theater scene in the country looks calmly towards this new upper limit. An SWR survey in Mannheim, Stuttgart and Konstanz shows that the specified upper limit of a maximum of 750 spectators will not mean that planned performances have to be canceled. When the alarm level II was declared, houses were already forced to reduce their occupancy by 50 percent.

Stricter rules for New Year’s Eve

From Saturday the clubs and discos in the country will have to close again. This also applies to the remaining Christmas markets. The sale and consumption of alcohol in public spaces is prohibited. The sale of firecrackers and fireworks on New Year’s Eve is prohibited nationwide, and there is a ban on gathering and gathering on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

The Prime Minister of Baden-Württemberg Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) defended the strict new rules with reference to the worsening situation in the intensive care units, the continued very high number of infections in the country and the new virus variant.

“The first basic rule for the next few weeks is: Contacts should be radically reduced again in order to flatten the wave before Christmas.”

Corona vaccination options are being expanded

The sometimes overloaded vaccination centers and general practitioners should receive support. In the future, pharmacies and nursing staff will also vaccinate against corona. Millions of additional cans are to come in December.

Hotel and restaurant association criticizes 2G Plus regulation

The Baden-Württemberg hotel and restaurant association (Dehoga) sees the 2G Plus regulation planned from Saturday as a “lockdown through the back door”. State chief Fritz Engelhardt said on Friday in Stuttgart that spontaneous guest house visits are no longer possible under these conditions, especially since there is a lack of adequate test infrastructure almost everywhere in the country. The regulation is also disproportionate. “Our industry has never been a pandemic driver. Safe visits to inns are possible without any problems – especially under 2G conditions.”
