BVB jersey on Everest: Finally back in front of FC Bayern – Sport

On May 13, Borussia Dortmund’s jersey was on Mount Everest. At BVB they are now assuming that their black and yellow polyester shirt was the first football jersey on the highest mountain on earth, but no one knows for sure.

It cannot be ruled out that of the almost 6,000 people who are said to have made it to the top of the 8,848 meter high mountain, someone has already had a football jersey with them. When New Zealander Edmund Hillary became the first person to scale Mount Everest in 1953, football was certainly not a big thing in his home country.

The most important thing for Dortmund is that there is no evidence that an FC Bayern jersey has ever been on Mount Everest. You’ve seen Bayern jerseys on the Zugspitze, but it’s only a ridiculous 2962 meters high.

The Tyrolean hotelier Willi Steindl had the BVB jersey with him on May 13th. On Saturday evening, the equally obsessive alpinist and BVB fan was a guest in the stadium, he reported during the break from Mount Everest over loudspeakers and that he was happy to be able to talk about his adventure in a reasonably light-hearted way, because it had pushed him to his limits.

His interviewer, the stadium announcer Norbert Dickel, was able to understand this feeling to some extent. The day before, to the great delight of a WDR radio reporter reporting live, Dickel had jumped from the ten-meter tower in Dortmund’s Südbad.

At Borussia Dortmund, they are passionate about demonstrating their often-doubted mentality these days. The daring determination drove the new defender Niklas Süle to the top. He claimed they wanted to be champions.
