Bundeswehr: Breuer should become Inspector General

The Bundeswehr gets a new highest-ranking soldier: Lieutenant General Breuer takes over according to information from the ARD Capital Studios the post of inspector general. He became known as head of the Corona crisis team.

Major General Carsten Breuer is to become the new Inspector General of the Bundeswehr. That experienced that ARD Capital Studio. Other media reported unanimously about it.

The 59-year-old is to succeed General Eberhard Zorn, who took over the post as the highest-ranking soldier in April 2018.

Breuer headed the Corona crisis team

Breuer is currently commander of the new Bundeswehr Territorial Command that he established. He became known for his job as head of the Corona crisis team in the Chancellery.

The new Territorial Command is responsible for the management and coordination of Bundeswehr operations in Germany – including the army, air force, navy, medical service and cyber/information space. The forces of the Bundeswehr are controlled and bundled for homeland security, including administrative and disaster relief as well as civil-military cooperation and troop deployments in Germany.
