Fourth Schalke bankruptcy in a row +++ whistles in the stadium |
Is Kramer already flying on Saturday?
Schalke loses 0:3 against Hoffenheim – and the coach probably does his job!
The two teams will see each other again in the cup on Tuesday (8:45 p.m. / Sky) – but with Schalke then probably with another coach on the sidelines. Coach Frank Kramer (50/contract until 2024) is about to be eliminated after the fourth loss in a row, the sixth overall. The relegation of the promoted is in danger. The fans whistled at the break – at the team presentation before kick-off, the name Kramer. And after the final whistle “Kramer raus” calls.
Elfer-Ko on Schalke.
► Hoffenheim’s Robert Skov (26) converts both penalties (10th, 59th minute) ice cold.
First Leo Greiml caught Hoffenheim’s Christoph Baumgartner on the shin with a penalty. After the break, Thomas Ouwejan used his arm without permission.
In between, Munas Dabbur managed to make it 2-0 for the guests (45+2.).
Schalke is struggling in the sixth bankruptcy of the season, slipping to a relegation zone at the weekend. Will the dismissal follow on Saturday?
Sports director Rouven Schröder after the game on the DAZN microphone: “Nothing is certain. Frank Kramer is our coach and we will still analyze the game.”
If Kramer were fired, it would be the fifth sacking this season – after Thomas Reis, Domenico Tedesco, Pellegrino Matarazzo and Gerardo Seoane.
The possible Kramer successor would be one of those fired. Schalke already negotiated with the ex-Bochumer Reis in the summer.
Club and coach were almost in agreement. But VfL ultimately refused the release. In the meantime, Reis has been fired in Bochum – by the way, after a 3-1 defeat at Schalke.
It is quite possible that Cos Mike Büskens (56) and Matthias Kreuzer (39) will take over for the first time – for the second duel with Hoffenheim within five days.
