The search for a coach is underway at FC Bayern. And ex-coach Nagelsmann is said to have come into the sights of the club bosses again.

National coach According to a report in “Bild”, Julian Nagelsmann is again among the candidates to succeed Tuchel at FC Bayern Munich. As the newspaper reported, there have already been several exchanges between Munich’s sports director Max Eberl (50) and the Nagelsmann side about a possible return to the German soccer record champions.

Nagelsmann should therefore be open to the idea. After his resignation from Bayern in March 2023, the 36-year-old’s return was not an issue, at least from the club’s perspective. The situation could now be different under the new sports director Eberl and the new sports director Christoph Freund.

Bayern’s preferred candidate was Xabi Alonso. But the Spaniard (42) announced on Friday that he was staying with Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen. The candidates for Thomas Tuchel (50), who is leaving after the season, are said to include Roberto De Zerbi (44) and Ralf Rangnick (65), and the names of Unai Emery (52) and Zinédine Zidane (51) are also in the room.

Nagelsmann is contractually bound to the DFB as national coach until after the home European Championships in the summer. The German Football Association would like to extend the contract before the major event. Nagelsmann had previously caused a stir with his offensive statements about his professional plans for the period after the European Championships. He would like clarity before the tournament. The 36-year-old said he would also sign with a club for next season ahead of the European Championships if the opportunity arose. However, he currently has no offer.
