The record national player criticizes BVB’s recent performances in the Bundesliga as “subterranean”. He also sees coach Terzic as responsible.

According to TV experts, Borussia Dortmund’s weaknesses in the Bundesliga are clear Lothar Matthäus concludes that there is a fundamental problem.

“This is not a team that is currently in Dortmund. Everyone plays for themselves,” said the record-breaking national soccer player on the “Sky90” program. In the most recent league defeats against FC Bayern Munich (0:4) and VfB Stuttgart (1:2), BVB’s performances were “underground”, said Matthäus.

But this is no exception. “It’s going on throughout the entire season. I haven’t seen anything outstanding from Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga this season,” said Matthäus.

After the defeat in Stuttgart, Dortmund are already ten points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Following the game, statements from national striker Niclas Füllkrug caused a stir. Perhaps “the perfect approach” wasn’t chosen, the goalscorer speculated. This was seen by some as criticism of coach Edin Terzic.

“They are not functioning as a team at the moment,” said Matthäus and added: “In the end, the coach has to solve this problem.” He expects “more sovereignty and ease” from a top team with a well-staffed squad like BVB.
