FC Bayern’s recent successes do not make TV critic Dietmar Hamann kind. The ex-national player also underlines his doubts about coach Thomas Tuchel.

Even after FC Bayern’s 8-0 win against Darmstadt, the TV expert still believes Dietmar Hamann stands by his criticism of the Munich team and coach Thomas Tuchel. “The results are right, but the football is not good,” said Hamann on the “Sky90” program.

The 50-year-old rated the first half of Bayern’s 3-1 win in the Champions League at Galatasaray Istanbul as “subterranean”, and in the Bundesliga game against Darmstadt the promoted team played more passes in the first half. “If they play against a better opponent, maybe next week, then you’ll be down 2-0 or 3-0,” said Hamann.

Doubts about Coach Tuchel

On Saturday the record champions will be visiting Borussia Dortmund for the top game. Before the league classic, Hamann also renewed his doubts about Coach Tuchel’s work in Munich. “I don’t think it is or will be a love affair anymore. It’s been an alliance of convenience since he was there. To put it bluntly, I’d say that they became champions. There was little they could do about it,” said the former Bayern midfielder.

Hamann is critical of the way he deals with national player Joshua Kimmich, who was shown red early on against Darmstadt. Kimmich is “the walking insecurity,” said Hamann. “The boy was dismantled in eight months by the regular player in Munich, the player that Guardiola might have wanted to bring to Manchester in the summer. Now you can already hear voices saying that they are happy that he can’t play next week,” explained the TV Expert.

Before the game against Darmstadt, Tuchel reacted calmly to Hamann’s constant attacks. “Didi is getting a little out of hand at the moment, I have the feeling, and on the other hand it is certainly not important enough for us to care about it, react or let ourselves be annoyed,” said the Munich head coach. Hamann now said: “I have no problem with him. When I see him, we will definitely shake hands.”
