A serious injury to national player Florian Wirtz overshadowed 1.FC Köln’s 1-0 win in Leverkusen. Hertha BSC separated from coach Tayfun Korkut after the bankruptcy in Gladbach – and announced a prominent successor.

The report of the game day came later on Sunday evening. After another bankruptcy at Borussia Mönchengladbach (0: 2), Hertha BSC separated from his coach Tayfun Korkut. A prominent successor was quickly found: Felix Magath. The 68-year-old takes over the capital club, which has slipped to relegation place 17, until the end of the season. Magath is considered a coach who relies on discipline. He won the German championship three times with Bayern Munich and VfL Wolfsburg.

SC Freiburg stayed within touching distance of the Champions League places with a 3-2 (2-0) win over VfL Wolfsburg – tied on points with Hoffenheim and Leipzig, who beat bottom-of-the-table Greuther Fürth 6-1 (4-1 ) dispatched. In the fight against relegation, VfB Stuttgart scored an important point with a 1-1 (0-1) win at Union Berlin. FC Augsburg’s game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 was postponed due to too many corona cases in Mainz.

Borussia Dortmund – Arminia Bielefeld 1:0 (1:0)

Borussia Dortmund has cemented second place in the Bundesliga with a difficult victory over Arminia Bielefeld. BVB won 1-0 (1-0) on matchday 26 on Sunday and was also able to celebrate the return of Erling Haaland after a seven-week injury break. The Norwegian, who has recovered from a muscle injury, came on as a substitute for the last half hour. Marius Wolf scored Dortmund’s winning goal in the 21st minute. BVB can reduce the gap to leaders Bayern Munich to four points with a win in the catch-up game in Mainz on Wednesday. Bielefeld remains in 15th place.

Bayer Leverkusen – 1.FC Cologne 0: 1 (0: 0)

Eintracht Frankfurt continued its upward trend with the first home win in the second half of the season. Despite being behind, coach Oliver Glasner’s team won 2-1 (0-1) against VfL Bochum. An own goal by Bochum’s Erhan Masovic (46th minute) and a goal by Daichi Kamada (52nd) in front of 24,000 spectators ensured Eintracht’s third success within a week after the 4-1 win at Hertha BSC and the 2-1 win in Europe League at Betis Sevilla. Striker Sebastian Polter (19th) had given the guests the lead. Due to the success, Frankfurt improved to ninth place, Bochum remains eleventh.

SpVgg Greuther Furth – RB Leipzig 1: 6 (1: 4)

RB Leipzig is in the Bundesliga after the end of the 26th match day on a Champions League place. Last year’s runners-up clearly won 6:1 (4:1) at the bottom of the table SpVgg Greuther Fürth and thus occupies fourth place. Although Fürth took the lead in the fourth minute through Jamie Leweling, Leipzig kept things clear until half-time. In a gripping top-flight Bundesliga game and in glorious sunshine, FC Bayern Munich showed themselves to be in the best of moods – but for one thing they forgot to score and for another they were unlucky with three offside goals. The league leaders only drew 1-1 (1-1) at Champions League aspirants TSG 1899 Hoffenheim on Saturday. Four days after the 7-1 win against RB Salzburg in the premier class, coach Julian Nagelsmann’s team at his former job failed when they had numerous chances. In front of 25,600 spectators in the sold-out Sinsheim stadium, Christoph Baumgartner even gave the Kraichgau team the lead (32nd minute). Robert Lewandowski equalized with his 29th goal of the season (45+3). In the table, the German champions are now ten points ahead of Borussia Dortmund, who play Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday and still have the catch-up game in Mainz. For TSG, the series of four wins ended with a respectable draw against the defending champion.

SC Freiburg – VfL Wolfsburg 3: 2 (2: 0)

Thanks to a strong Vincenzo Grifo and winning goal scorer Nico Schlotterbeck, SC Freiburg can hope more and more for the Champions League qualification. National defender Schlotterbeck scored the late goal to make it 3-2 (2-0) against VfL Wolfsburg and ensured success in the turbulent final phase (87th minute). Thanks to the defeat of Hertha BSC, VfB overtook the Berliners and left 17th place. Union thus also missed the symbolic mark of 40 points as the minimum target set by Fischer. The Berliners have 38 points to their credit.
