At the start of the 3rd matchday in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund lost a mandatory victory and the temporary lead in the table. After a 2-0 lead at the break against newly promoted Heidenheim, Dortmund had to settle for a 2-2 lead.
The goals for BVB were scored by internationals Julian Brandt (7th minute) and Emre Can (15th, hand penalty). However, Heidenheim won the first Bundesliga point in the club’s history with goals from Eren Dinkci (61st) and Tim Kleindienst (83rd penalty kick). In between, Dortmund missed a number of great chances for a third goal, towards the end of the game Heidenheim also had good opportunities to win the game.
Before the compensation, there was irritation for minutes about the decisions of referee Tobias Reichel.
