DFB Cup draw: Mönchengladbach to Saarbrücken

First report: Dortmund – The 2023/24 season in the DFB Cup is full of surprises. Numerous favorites had to give up in the first three rounds. In addition to defending champions RB Leipzig, FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund were also affected. There are only three Bundesliga teams left in the quarter-finals: Bayer Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart and Borussia Mönchengladbach.
DFB Cup draw: Who will 1. FC Saarbrücken face?
The biggest surprise in the current DFB Cup round is 1. FC Saarbrücken. In the 3rd league, the Saarlanders are only average, but they surpass themselves when it comes to seemingly overpowering opponents. In the first main round, Karlsruher SC was beaten, after which the Bundesliga clubs FC Bayern Munich and Eintracht Frankfurt were the final destination.
Saarbrücken will have a home game again in the quarter-finals and probably none of the clubs still in the competition are keen on an away game in Ludwigspark. Two more wins and then the final will be in Berlin. For 1. FC Saarbrücken, this would certainly be one of the highlights in the club’s history.
The quarter-finals will be drawn on Sunday (December 10th) at the German Football Museum in Dortmund. The following teams are still there:

DFB Cup draw: Many favorites have already failed
The quarter-finals of the DFB Cup will be played on January 30th and 31st and February 6th and 7th, 2024. The DFB will schedule the individual games after the draw. There will probably be at least one game that will be shown on free TV again.
The goal of the eight remaining teams is the final in the Berlin Olympic Stadium, which will take place on May 25, 2024. Since Hertha BSC is still in the quarter-finals, there could be a home game for the capital club. By the way, all of the DFB Cup winners of the last 26 years have already been eliminated. This season, a club will win the cup that last achieved this before the turn of the millennium. (smr)
