Leroy Sané could miss FC Bayern in Freiburg due to injury. Coach Thomas Tuchel has decided on Joshua Kimmich’s position. And where does Max Eberl sit?

The new Munich sports director Max Eberl will sit in the stands when he officially takes office at FC Bayern in the Bundesliga game against SC Freiburg on Friday (8.30 p.m./DAZN).

Eberl will officially take up his new position on March 1st. At his last stop at RB Leipzig, the now 50-year-old also watched the games from the stands; at Borussia Mönchengladbach he sat on the bench during the games.

What about Sané?

Coach Thomas Tuchel is threatened with the loss of offensive player Leroy Sané in the away game in Breisgau. The 28-year-old has had problems with the patellar tendon in his knee for a long time. “Leroy can tolerate pain incredibly well,” said Tuchel. But he feels “that he is not free”. An individual test should clarify whether Sané can be in the Munich squad despite his health problems.

In central defense, Matthijs de Ligt will be replaced by Minjae Kim after his fifth yellow card. As in the 2-1 win against RB Leipzig, Joshua Kimmich will again play as a right-back, as the Bayern coach revealed. “We need to step up,” demanded Tuchel, who is leaving FC Bayern in the summer a year before the actual end of his contract.

Striker Serge Gnabry (muscle tendon injury in the left adductor area) is back in training, but according to Tuchel, a place in the squad is still too early for him. Full-back Alphonso Davies should be in FC Bayern’s squad “if everything stays the same as before.” Davies has not been able to play since the beginning of February due to a strained knee ligament.
