A 21-year-old was sentenced to eleven years in prison at the Hof Regional Court for the treacherous murder of his mother. At the same time, a youth chamber of the court ordered the defendant to be placed in a psychiatric hospital, a court spokesman announced on Thursday.
The chamber is therefore convinced that the young man killed his 54-year-old mother in Thiersheim (Wunsiedel district) in order to prevent his younger brother from being vaccinated. According to the judges, he suffered from delusional symptoms during the crime and was therefore significantly less culpable. For this reason, a life sentence was not an option.
In March of this year, the then 20-year-old called the police himself and stated that he had killed his mother. He also admitted the crime in court. During the trial, the defendant described that vaccinations had ruined his life and that by killing his mother he wanted to prevent his eleven-year-old brother from receiving a vaccination in April.
According to the public prosecutor’s office, he beat and strangled his mother with brute force. When the 54-year-old was already dead, he is said to have shot several bolts into her head with a crossbow.
The chamber sentenced the 21-year-old under adult criminal law. She ordered him to be placed in a psychiatric hospital because the defendant posed a danger to the public. The presiding judge said he was dangerous for anyone who wanted to vaccinate his brother in justifying the verdict.
