Broadcasting fee: KEF calculates 58 cents more – why this is unlikely to happen – media

In 2025, the broadcasting fee is expected to rise from 18.36 to 18.94 euros per month. This is what the KEF expert commission calculated. Why this is unlikely to happen.

The broadcasting fee is expected to rise by 58 cents to 18.94 euros at the beginning of 2025. As is now known according to dpa, this is the recommendation of the Commission for Determining Financial Requirements in Broadcasting, or KEF for short, which it sent in a draft to the public broadcasters and the states on Friday. This would make ARD, ZDF and Deutschlandradio more expensive by almost seven euros per year. Compared to the price increases of streaming services, for example, this is not a very large sum, but the mood in politics is also extremely bad for even more money in the public service system, which already has a total of 10 billion euros available per year. Therefore, there will probably not be an increase in contributions, or if there is, only by the Federal Constitutional Court. This year’s contribution process is clearly not a normal one.
