Italy’s former Prime Minister Berlusconi has already seen numerous trials. In another, he has now been acquitted. It was about possible bribery in connection with “bunga-bunga parties” of the 85-year-old.

A court in Siena has acquitted the former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in a trial in connection with so-called “bunga-bunga parties”. This was reported by the news agencies Ansa and Adnkronos. Accordingly, the court saw the facts as not proven.

Allegation of bribery of witnesses

The 85-year-old head of the conservative Forza Italia party was accused of bribing witnesses to give false testimony to the parties with young women. According to the agency reports, a musician who was also accused was acquitted. Ansa quoted Berlusconi’s lawyers who spoke of a great result. The party leader is satisfied.

Berlusconi is also charged with bribery in Milan. The court in the northern Italian metropolis recently wanted to have an expert report on Berlusconi’s mental and physical condition, but the 85-year-old refused. The progress of the process there is unclear.

Numerous lawsuits against Berlusconi

As early as 2013, Berlusconi was sentenced to seven years imprisonment in connection with sex parties in his villa in Sardinia – for prostitution of minors. The sentence was overturned two years later. In the end, the court decided in his favor that Berlusconi did not know that a dancer at his “Bunga-Bunga-Party” was only 17 years old.

Also in 2013, Berlusconi received a four-year prison sentence for tax evasion. However, three years of this were waived through an amnesty regulation. The former head of government had to do charitable work and he was stripped of the honorary title of Cavaliere (knight), which he had worn for decades.

Berlusconi’s Forza Italia has been part of the government alliance of Prime Minister Mario Draghi in Rome since mid-February.
