A dead child and his seriously injured father are found in an apartment in Bremen. The autopsy brings clarity – and the father is investigated.

After the death of a seven-year-old boy in an apartment in The body was autopsied in Bremen. “The autopsy confirms that the boy was the victim of a violent crime,” said a spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office.

A natural death could be ruled out; he did not provide any more precise information about the cause of death. The father is strongly suspected of having first killed the boy and then inflicted injuries on himself. A decision will be made later today as to whether the 46-year-old will be remanded in custody.

According to the public prosecutor’s office, the boy was visiting his father at the weekend. The 46-year-old is said to have called his sister and announced the crime on the phone. At the time of the crime, the man and his son were alone in the apartment.

Homicide squad investigates

The police found the seriously injured man and the lifeless child in the apartment in the old town on Sunday night. The boy died despite immediate resuscitation efforts. The injured father was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery there on Sunday. The spokesman for the public prosecutor’s office was initially unable to provide any information about the suspect’s current state of health.

The man is being investigated for homicide. The background to the crime is now the subject of the murder squad’s investigation.
