BRC-20 Standard Creator Opposes Upcoming Fork Proposed by UniSat Wallet

On January 2, user X (formerly Twitter) Domo, creator of BRC-20, said he would oppose the upcoming fork proposed by UniSat Wallet.

“We believe rushing these updates in BRC20 is too risky,” Domo say “They ignore peer indexers and may harm the broader BRC20 user community.”

The creators have highlighted a recent bug related to the Ordinals 0.8 and 0.9 updates, which is part of the increased complexity of integrating the new updates into the BRC-20 standard.

“It is clear that these changes may not be safe to integrate without the robust testing, coordination, and verification that are being built,” and accused the UniSat fork proposal of being “a Part of the strategy to gain control of the protocol.”

UniSat canexplainthat the proposed “fork” is a “split” that separates the BRC-20 version 0.9 assets from the upcoming Ordinals Jubilee upgrade. “Different outfits with different rules. but still in the same physical blockchain.”

“UniSat will comply with the Ordinals Jubilee upgrade to ensure BRC-20 remains in Ordinals, not separated into an isolated protocol,” the developers said.write
