Marília Mendonça apparently died on Friday evening with four other people, including an uncle of hers, in a plane crash in the remote region of Minas Gerais. She leaves behind a young son. The cause of the accident has not yet been determined.

The young artist won the Latin Grammy Award in 2019 and was known for songs about women and their relationships. She was considered a superstar in her native Brazil. Last year she performed at one of the most successful online concerts – 3.3 million fans watched on YouTube.
